Ways to Volunteer

Children make new friends at Meridian and so do families. Enthusiastic parents and alumni are integral components of the school’s strength.

Classroom
We invite all parents to become actively involved in classrooms, on field trips, and with community service.

Committee Member
Meridian offers many opportunities for parents, grandparents, and alumni to share their time and talents with us. Our Board of Trustees and a myriad of committees need interested and dedicated members to help accomplish great things.

Parent Association
Every parent is a member of the PA. The mission is to facilitate parent volunteer activities for the betterment of the school and its community. The PA promotes parent involvement in the school community by supporting teachers and staff along with organizing school activities and programs. It facilitates communication among parents, teachers and school administrators to explore issues of mutual interest, sponsors speakers on educational topics, and provides a structure for assisting the school with certain fundraising and social functions.

Some Volunteer Opportunities
Just to name a few ... Library helpers, community service projects, fall carnival, buddy families, science club, chess club, math club, admission tours .....

Auction
Holly Johnson, auction chair, is already busy planning for the March 13, 2010 auction. Your help is needed and appreciated. It’s a wonderful chance to meet other parents, be creative, and become an integral part of our fundraising efforts. Holly looks forward to hearing from you!

Why Philanthropy Matters

We joined Meridian so that our children could experience learning in a truly balanced setting that offers great academics in the context of a caring and involved community. We found that our support, in many ways, was necessary to maintain the day-to-day program that our kids love and ensure that other children, current and future, would also benefit from the Meridian experience. We are loyal supporters of Annual Giving and place Meridian among our highest charitable giving priorities.
- Meridian parent

I support Meridian because it is an investment in our future generations of leaders and civic-minded citizens. When I read the alumni newsletter I am proud of what our students have accomplished and continue to accomplish. I will always support Meridian because the payback is so great.
- Ellen Toole Klarsch, Meridian Director 1978-2004

Our family donates to Annual Giving as a way of ensuring the vitality of a community we hold dear. Meridian offers an education that nurtures children’s skills in becoming both independent and interdependent. The muscles that students exercise in the classroom on their individual and group projects, doing community service, and in the playground and on the playing field let them build a mind and soul for the benefit of themselves and the community. Our family considers these to be the most critical of life skills. The balance between mind and heart is a community value worth sustaining.
