Customized Learning Faculty Member

Position Type: Full-time

Position Description: 
This faculty member will be a key member of the Customized Learning team. He or she will support students in flexible learning groups and occasionally in a whole-class setting. He or she will use both data and anecdotal observation to analyze grade-level trends and student needs. This faculty member will collaborate with classroom faculty, associate faculty, and the Customized Learning team to differentiate teaching, the curriculum, and the learning environment to support and challenge diverse learners.

An ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:

  • A teaching certification and Master’s in Education; endorsement in special education or gifted education preferred
  • A minimum of five years classroom teaching experience specifically working with learning differences
  • Expertise in math intervention and extension strategies strongly preferred
  • Experience with coaching students through social challenges and managing emotions
  • Knowledge and experience with effective classroom management strategies
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Flexibility and the ability to be a self-starter

Associate Faculty Member

Start Date: August 18, 2017
Position Type: Full-time

Position Description: Associate Faculty members work as part of the grade level teaching team and provide support for both classes at that grade level. Associate Faculty members are responsible for teaching part of the math curriculum, assessing students in reading and math using standardized assessment tools, tracking student progress, and differentiating student instruction to support individual learning profiles.

Associate Faculty members are also key members of Meridian’s Customized Learning program. Customized Learning allows for the tailoring of curriculum, methods of instruction, and learning environment to meet the learning styles and abilities of all students. Associate Faculty work with the Customized Learning team to facilitate small groups, differentiate learning, and support diverse student needs.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; teaching certificate preferred
  • Experience working with children at the elementary level
  • Knowledge of current best teaching practices
  • Knowledge and experience with effective classroom management strategies
  • Experience differentiating instruction for diverse learners
  • Experience teaching social/emotional learning to elementary students
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Flexibility, ability to be a self-starter, and a willingness to learn
