The 34th Annual Meridian School Auction

Dear Meridian Families:

The Meridian School is turning 40! Join us to celebrate this special occasion at the 34th Annual Meridian School Auction, “Oceania – Navigating Our Next 40 Years,” scheduled for March 25th, 2017, at The Four Seasons Hotel in downtown Seattle. As Meridian embarks on its journey through the next 40 years, we invite you to enjoy an evening of celebration, acknowledging our school’s many  achievements and looking forward towards our future success.

Surround yourself with the music, food, drinks and decor of Oceania as we gather together to celebrate our community, raise money to complete the school’s budget, and enhance the curriculum through this year’s Fund-A-Vision, “Experts and Explorations.” This important campaign allows Meridian to bring in both local and national experts to our community and allows students to explore the greater Seattle area.

New this year:

Two Auctions, One Important Cause …Celebrating our next 40 years! Join us in supporting Meridian by partaking in our two auction events:

  1. Online Auction: March 10th – March 24th
  2. Live Auction, Dinner and Dancing: March 25th, 5:30pm at The Four Seasons Hotel
In an effort to provide more time for our guests to socialize, we will be reducing the number of auction items at the event. Instead, the silent auction will take place online for two weeks leading up to the auction.
 
The online auction will take place via Text-2-Bid. To view our online auction items, visit our auction website: www.MeridianAuction.org. This website is an important tool that allows families to donate directly on the site. This is also the place to  find auction details, view donated items, download donation forms, sponsorship packages and the auction guidebook.
 

Dancing! Put on your dancing shoes and get ready to celebrate a successful night following the Live Auction. Dancing will take place in the Sycamore room, adjacent to the Main Ballroom, accompanied by a photo booth and other activities to help you unwind.

How you can help!

This year, in addition to procuring items for our Live and Online Auctions, we have set a goal of increasing our auction underwriting and business sponsorships. That means we need your help to underwrite our expenses and reach out to local businesses in our community.

What is underwriting?

An auction underwriter pays for part or all of the cost of a product or service at the auction. Underwriting is an amazing way for families to contribute to the auction. By reducing Meridian’s initial expenses we are able to raise more money that will directly benefit our students. All underwriters of auction expenses will be graciously thanked at the event. Below are some of the examples of underwriting opportunities:

What are Business Sponsorships?

An auction business sponsor is buying an opportunity to advertise in our community. By becoming an auction sponsor, businesses receive advertising space in our catalog, and, depending on the package they select, they may also have their logo featured on our website, our two school video monitors, signage at the event, and receive a special thank you by the auctioneer. Sponsorship package forms can be found above on the right side bar or in Meridian’s Main Office / Development Office.

Want help or have ideas for a potential business sponsor or donor? Contact Hayley Walters at Hwalters@Meridianschool.edu and she can assist you. Be sure to include:
  • Name of the business and/or contact person
  • Business location (contact address, phone, and fax is helpful)
  • As many details as possible about the item/services

“ASIA – Illuminating Our Minds” 

The 33rd annual Auction was a stellar evening of food, fun, and fundraising! Our success exemplifies our family’s willingness to procure items, eagerly volunteer to help, and loyally attend. The 2016 auction, Illuminating Our Minds, followed this tradition by raising $102,129.

Thank you for making this happen!

This year “Fund-The-Faculty” raised $125,700 that will be expended over three years.  Matching funds will increase this amount further.

We will spend these funds over three years focused on Literacy and Language Arts, Social/Emotional Learning and S.T.E.A.M. Teachers have already attended a Social Thinking conference due to our community’s generosity.  We are all looking forward to integrating new ideas from the Science of Imagination conference and the Teachers College Writer’s Workshop training.
