If you’re exploring Meridian School, my guess is that you’re looking for more than an excellent education for your child. You’re looking for a place where your child will be truly known, where curiosity is celebrated, where joy and challenge live side by side, and where learning extends well beyond the walls of a classroom.

Those are exactly the things that drew me to Meridian.

From the moment I began learning about this school, I was inspired by its unwavering commitment to nurturing both the head and the heart of children. Meridian thoughtfully blends strong academic fundamentals with hands-on, experiential learning, giving children countless opportunities to ask questions, solve problems, take risks, and discover the excitement that comes from making sense of the world around them.

Just as important is the community. There is something special about a school where children feel a genuine sense of belonging—where they are encouraged to be themselves, where every child is known and valued, and where kindness matters. Nestled within the historic Good Shepherd Center and connected to the vibrant Wallingford neighborhood, Meridian embraces its neighborhood, the city, and beyond as an extension of the classroom, helping students develop a deep understanding of the communities they are part of and the world they will help shape.

Having been in education for over 30 years, I am convinced that the elementary years are not only remarkable but likely the most important years of your child’s journey. As they begin their journey, it’s in these years that children build the habits, confidence, and character that stay with them long after they’ve mastered multiplication or learned to write a persuasive essay. During this critical time, they learn how to collaborate, think critically, persevere when things don’t go as planned, advocate for themselves and others, and find the confidence to embrace new challenges. It’s these early years that fundamentally prepare children for their bright future.

Our hope is that every Meridian student leaves here not only well prepared academically, but also self-aware, compassionate, resilient, and eager to make a positive difference in their world. We want our graduates to be thoughtful learners, engaged citizens, and kind human beings who approach the world with curiosity, empathy, and confidence.

As I begin my own journey as Head of School, I feel incredibly fortunate to be joining this extraordinary community. Every conversation and every new connection has only deepened my excitement for what lies ahead.
