Monica Gaspar de Alba was born and raised in El Paso, Texas. She earned her undergraduate degree in Human Development and Early Childhood Education from the University of Utah. During her studies, Monica had the opportunity to deepen her understanding of progressive educational approaches by studying the Reggio Emilia philosophy in New York and Montessori education in Perugia, Italy. These experiences sparked a lifelong passion for exploring different teaching methods and bringing best practices into her classroom.
Monica began her teaching career in Pre-K for 8 years and later earned her Master of Education from Texas State University. She then taught second grade for five years at a diverse Title I school in Austin, followed by four years teaching kindergarten at Austin International School, where she further deepened her appreciation for multicultural education and global perspectives.
Monica and her family moved to Seattle in the summer of 2025. Since then, she has had the opportunity to substitute in several classrooms at The Meridian School and quickly fell in love with the students, faculty, and community.
When she is not teaching, Monica enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, their two young children, Adeline and Jude, and their beloved chihuahua, Frida. Together, they are having a wonderful time exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
