Supporting Students and Families into Middle School

Meridian graduates are well-prepared for middle school and beyond. As part of our commitment to building a strong foundation for lifelong learning in elementary school, we believe in working alongside families to support middle school placement. We are with you every step of the way through middle school applications, finding the right fit, and personal advising from the admissions team who already know you and your student well.

Support at Each Step

Our Director of Enrollment Management collaborates closely with the Approach to Learning Team to understand each student’s educational journey throughout their time at Meridian. Each student and family is supported in finding the right match for their next school.

Third Grade

Third grade marks a transition from lower to upper elementary, and students begin taking on more complex coursework. At this important developmental stage, Meridian equips students with the tools to feel self-assured in their abilities and challenge themselves academically.

We introduce students to a common standardized test through the Comprehensive Testing Program (CTP), which helps us assess content-specific, curriculum-based performance, reasoning ability, and conceptual knowledge.

Students are introduced to the standardized testing process with care, ensuring they are prepared and confident test takers for the future. Through personalized support and a nurturing environment, students build resilience, learning how to manage challenges and grow from their experiences.

Fourth Grade

The Director of Enrollment Management begins meeting with families to discuss middle school options. She meets with families one-on-one and in groups, and also meets with students in small-group conversations.

Students continue to build their skills and knowledge through the Comprehensive Testing Program and can see their progress as they gain competency and confidence.

Fifth Grade

By their final year at Meridian, students are prepared for middle school by being curious learners, confident problem-solvers, and compassionate global citizens. Students prepare for middle school admissions through public speaking practice, essay writing, and interview preparation.

Meridian alumni from sixth grade are invited to return to campus to offer advice to current fifth graders who are about to graduate from Meridian. Our School Psychologist helps students prepare for the social-emotional transition.

For families, our Director of Enrollment Management provides support, including individual meetings, information about admissions events, application review, decision-week guidance, and waitlist support.
