Chris is new to Seattle and comes by way of Santa Barbara, California. In California, Chris taught transitional kindergarten and kindergarten for three years at a public elementary school on a space force base (and watched many rocket launches with his students!). Prior to teaching in California, Chris was an instructional assistant in kindergarten and second grade while obtaining his teaching credential in North Carolina. He is passionate about early literacy instruction and helping his students develop the social-emotional skills necessary to become independent problem-solvers and empathetic members of a community. Chris has nearly a decade of experience in the outdoor and environmental education fields. His experience ranges from teaching about food waste in the classroom to taking children on 12-day canoeing expeditions in the Canadian wilderness. Chris is excited to explore the Seattle community and nearby trail running, backpacking, and skiing opportunities with his wife.
