Jackie Hughes

  • B.A. in English and an endorsement in K–8 Elementary Education from Western Washington University
  • M.Ed. in Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University

Jackie has been a classroom teacher in Washington and Arizona since 2006 and has been an educator since 2004. She started teaching at Meridian in 2013 and has taught second and third grade. Previously, she had over seven years of experience as a first grade teacher and grade-level chair for the first grade team and school leadership advisory team at a K–8 elementary school in Phoenix. In addition to her classroom teaching experience, Jackie has taught sixth grade outdoor and environmental education in the San Bernadino National Forest, and worked as a reading tutor with AmeriCorps. Her professional development includes Responsive Classroom, Social Thinking, Handwriting Without Tears, Wired For Reading Foundations and Advanced Language Courses, Writers Workshop Units of Study, and Bridges in Mathematics. Jackie is passionate about leading a healthy lifestyle, playing outdoors, and spending time with her family.
