Jen Piazza has been in the field of education for over 20 years. She began her career as an educator teaching pre-K at a nursery school on the UC San Diego campus. After completing her graduate work, she taught third grade in Southern California for two years before moving to the Bay Area. She spent the next 13 years teaching third grade for Palo Alto Unified School District. During her tenure there she took on the role of literacy lead for grades 3–5, co-created and co-led the district’s summer writing and arts enrichment program, and became a science curriculum trainer for school districts in both San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. She moved to Seattle a few years ago and began working one-on-one with children on the autism spectrum. She is grateful for everything she learned in the field of ABA therapy and is thrilled to be teaching third grade once again. Developing curriculum that is engaging and purposeful is her passion. What is of greatest importance to her is fostering authentic relationships with each one of her students and building strong partnerships with their families.
Outside the classroom, Jen enjoys gathering around the dinner table with her husband and close friends. She is also an avid gardener and loves spending time exploring the beauty of the PNW.
