She moved to the U.S. from New Zealand and began her career teaching K–2 and 5–6 grade clusters in L.A. Ramiza joined the Meridian community in 2008. She was a lead classroom teacher in first grade and third grade before switching to a kindergarten associate role so she could better support the development of Meridian’s Global Citizenship Framework and curriculum. Ramiza served as the interim faculty lead for K–2, Global Studies Committee chair, and faculty liaison for Meridian’s Board of Trustees before taking leave to spend time with her family. In 2019, Ramiza returned to Meridian as a kindergarten associate faculty member. Ramiza is trained in multiple curricula, including Bridges Math, Responsive Classroom, and Wired For Reading (Foundations and Advanced Language Courses), and has also attended workshops and conferences such as Handwriting Without Tears, Global Educators Conferences, and Social Thinking. Ramiza especially enjoys learning about new practices and ideologies in global education and how relevant strategies can be applied to an elementary school setting. Outside of school, Ramiza loves reading, DIY projects, trying new recipes, and spending time with her family.
