Sam Welk

  • B.A. in Economics from University of Wisconsin-Madison (2017)
  • Certificates in Educational Policy Studies and Environmental Studies from UW-Madison (2017)
  • M.A. in Teaching and Teaching Licensure from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota (2023)

Sam joins Meridian with 9+ years of elementary experience across a range of settings, such as K-5 classrooms, summer camp, after-school, and before-school programs. Moving to Seattle in July 2023, Sam is a newly licensed K-6 elementary teacher through Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota, where he also earned his Master of Arts in Teaching. During his licensure program, Sam worked for three years as an Associate Teacher for kindergarten, first, and second grade classrooms, as well as student taught fourth graders in 2022. Sam is enthusiastic about building relationships with students and staff and focusing on whole-child development, with an emphasis on social-emotional development and critical thinking skills. Outside of the classroom, Sam loves hiking with his wife (Virginia) and dog (Laney), playing basketball, and exploring new places to eat!
