Alum Story: Dashiell Morgan

Once a Monarch, always a Monarch! Dashiell is not only our beloved Facilities Manager but also an incredible example of a Meridian alum who has grown to embody Meridian Cares in all he does. We couldn’t be prouder to share a bit of Dashiell’s story as an alum and current staff member.

Who was your most memorable teacher?

Mr. Duff was my 3rd grade teacher, and I will never forget him. He was so funny and made all our classroom material come to life. I had a lot of fun in his class!

I will never forget making movies with Mr. Duff. The whole class participated in costumes, scripting, writing, and acting. The campus of the Good Shepherd Center was ideal for filming since it has such a wide array of scenery to choose from. I remember the entire class being completely invested in those films and extremely proud of the finished product!

This short period of my childhood had a profound impact on me as an adult. I have developed a passion for cinematic art through local organizations such as SIFF and Scarecrow Video. I assembled an audio-reactive modular video synth for processing and generating visuals for music videos and live music events. This has led me to connect and collaborate with a rich array of artists, including choreographers, musicians, dancers, and other visual artists.

Favorite Movie: Wings of Desire
Favorite Visual Artists: Doris Chase & Nam June Paik

What is your favorite memory from an overnight field trip?

The 4th grade field trip to Camp Orkila was so much fun. I remember rock climbing, archery, and ghost stories. Getting to do something like that with the entire class is very special and creates strong friendships.

What was your favorite thing to do at recess?

Playing bump on the basketball court or soccer on the field were my two favorite things to do during recess.

Where are you now?

Following high school, I worked a number of occupations, including medical records clerk, Extended Day teacher here at the Meridian School, and assistant teacher at Chelsea House Montessori. When COVID shut down the schools, I got a job working as an Electrical Apprentice and became a certified residential electrician two years later. This led me to apply for the position of Facilities Manager here at Meridian, and it feels like I have finally found my way home.
