Miette joined The Meridian School in 2022, and has been so grateful to be part of such a joyful community of learners. Originally from California, she began her career working in classrooms there before pursuing the IslandWood Graduate Program at the University of Washington. There she combined her passion for education with her love of the natural world through hands-on, outdoor learning experiences.
Miette holds a B.S. in Ecology and Evolution with a Minor in Educational Studies, as well as an M.Ed. in Teaching, Curriculum, and Instruction from the University of Washington. She is a certified elementary teacher with an endorsement in early elementary literacy instruction. She is especially passionate about empowering young learners as they build strong foundations in reading and writing.
Outside of the classroom, you can usually find Miette in the mountains. She loves to ski, backpack, climb, and hike. At home she loves listening to audiobooks while crafting, and she is never shy with glitter.
